This association was formed in late 2008 by a group of shooters from various clubs around the country. Since the lifting of the ban on licencing full bore calibres greater than .22, Centerfire rifle shooting has become really popular. In this climate we saw a niche for old service rifles being used in competition. Service rifle shooting has been enjoyed in the UK and Europe for many years and we feel that we should get this up and running here in Ireland.

Our aim is to promote and develop the sport of Classic rifle and pistol shooting here in Ireland. We welcome members from all clubs. We regularly hold competitions and range days throughout the year. One of the appealing elements of this type of shooting is the simplicity of kit needed. No Jackets or telescopic sights or benchrest kit needed. Just one person and one classic rifle.
